A critical part of the Anchorage Chamber's efforts revolve around our public advocacy efforts. This will include a menu of ground breaking efforts to improve everything from public school outcomes and affordable housing, to a greater understanding of the many moving cultural pieces that are making up a greater share Anchorage's economy.


In cooperation with 90% by 2020, AEDC's Live.Work.Play and our own One Anchorage, One Economy initiative, the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce has taken the lead in the area of talent and tolerance.

Our committees are all open to the public and we welcome your participation and support.

MISSION STATEMENT: To cultivate new relationships, develop professionally and support the community.

 

In the midst of a generation drawn to online social networks and online networking groups, Anchorage young professionals have not had an engaged and social network that addresses their specific needs -until now. The answer is the Young Professionals Group.

YPG was created in June of 2014 and is the largest young professional organization in Alaska with over 400 engaged members.

YPG has implemented a variety of different avenues for professionals to develop key business skills and strategies, grow personally and professionally, and provide unique networking opportunities with other motivated and social professionals.

HOW TO JOIN:

  • You’re between the ages of 21 and 39
  • You or the company you work for are Anchorage Chamber members or are interested in joining the Anchorage Chamber (both Chamber-members & Non-Chamber-members can participate in general YPG events).

  • To become a YPG member, with the ability to vote you must have attended two YPG events in the last year: any event other than a meeting and one monthly meeting (2nd Tuesday of every month from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the Anchorage Chamber Board Room).

 

 

OUR PURPOSE:

To connect diverse young professionals across the area, and to create a force that will both strengthen and grow Anchorage and the young professional community as we attract even more young professionals to live, work, play and stay in Anchorage, Alaska.

Objectives:

            ·Offer professional development and networking opportunities.

            ·Address community issues and be the voice for young professionals in Anchorage.

            ·Create economic impact for Anchorage businesses and the community at large.

Ribbon Cuttings

The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce is pleased to offer members an opportunity for more exposure at their business with an official Ribbon Cutting ceremony. This free service is for members who have recently opened their doors for the first time, moved to a new location, or expanded its current location.

Criteria

An Anchorage Chamber Ribbon Cutting ceremony should take place within six (6) months of the grand opening, moving or expansion of your business. To ensure our available for your event, we schedule no more than three per month.


The Ribbon Cutting ceremony event date can not conflict with another Anchorage Chamber event. All ribbon cuttings must be scheduled to start during business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Ribbon Cuttings must not be scheduled during national holidays, or when the Anchorage Chamber office is closed. The Anchorage Chamber will:

  • Invite the Anchorage Chamber board of directors, staff, and Ambassador Council
  • Post event details in the online event calendar and in a weekly e-news to membership, prior to your Ribbon Cutting ceremony
  • Send out a media advisory to local media outlets, however, the Anchorage Chamber cannot guarantee media coverage
  • Provide XLG scissors and ribbon for the event
  • Post pictures of event and dignitaries during the Ribbon Cutting ceremony on its Facebook page and other social media sites

 

The business host will:

  • Invite elected officials, as well as guests of their own
  • Provide the Anchorage Chamber with a logo for use on printed materials 30 days prior to the event
  • Provide pertinent business information to the Anchorage Chamber for use in promotional pieces 30 days prior to event date
  • Include the Anchorage Chamber logo on all Ribbon Cutting Ceremony promotional materials, if any
  • OPTIONAL: Provide adequate food and beverages at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony from fellow Anchorage Chamber members (list of Anchorage Chamber businesses will be provided)

Member Orientation

The Anchorage Chamber's Member Orientation is an opportunity for members to learn more about how to get involved with upcoming events and opportunities. Hosted by our membership comittee, these orientations are a great way to connect with people who are well-versed when it comes to making full use of their Anchorage Chamber membership. Our presenters represent a number of different industries and generations in the workforce, so there should definitely be someone here that you can easily connect with.

These lunchtime events are casual and conversational. Rather than simply offer you a canned presentation, we really want to invite our new and prospective members to come have a conversation with staff and fellow members who will also make sure to cover certain key features in front of the whole group. The result of our presentation style is a kind of "open-ended" presentation that is free-flowing but very informative and adaptive to each group's unique needs. 

So, come learn about our mission, what member benefits are best for you, and how you can leverage your membership to make an impact, all while making new connections with other Anchorage Chamber members.

This event is free to attend, but seats are limited.
